I had heard about and seen great photos of the tigers from other RealTravelers who had been there, and knew that this would be an experience I wouldn’t be able to forget. Though Thailand is in its travel off-season, the higher temperatures don’t spoil the beauty and wonder of this enchanting destination. What’s more, off-season is a perfect opportunity to take advantage of discounted rates and visit popular sites that can be crowded at other times of the year.



Our trip to Thailand had been long awaited, originally planned for the winter of 94/95. My wife Karin had bought the maps and books and even packed; we were off. The balloon was ready at Thunder and Colt with a heavy duty basket tailor made for hard use overseas. And then they went bust.



I arrived in Bankok in April, knowing it would be hot, but was knocked out by the average 106° weather. After a chaotic trip to my guesthouse, through the most amazing traffic, I collapsed on the bed in nothing but my birthday suit. Prior to arriving in Thailand, I had researched what to pack.
