San Francisco City is the fourth populated cosmopolitan city in California, which is the showpiece of the Bay Area, known for its political communities and diverse culture. The city is also known for its hilly terrain, scenic beauty and world class finest restaurants. There is so much to explore and it's no wonder why the American Singer Tony Bennett left his heart there or why Singer Scott MacKenzie wants you to visit SF with flowers in your hairs!



White, red, sparkling, flavored, there's sure something more to add to the list. When someone talks about wine, California always comes to mind.



Los Angeles, California has always been one of the most-visited places in the United States. It is the home of Hollywood, where the most sought after movie stars and directors walk their way through fame and fortune. Most of us do not know that Los Angeles, California was once a native territory void of the glamor and glitz of today's LA.



I could begin by saying that "a long long time ago, there was a land dominated by pirates, galleons and conquerors..." and you would conjure images of adventure on the sea, of ancient vessels floating on deep blue waters; the feeling of the wind on your skin and your heart full of freedom heading to rich lands of treasures would turn on the flame of adventure in your mind.



Orange County was once a beautiful wilderness, with vast fields of grasslands, sage scrub, wildflowers, and native plants overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Today, only 1/10th of the sage scrub and1 percent of our grassland remains. One out of three of our native flowers or plants are classified as endangered.

In our years of traveling throughout the Groveland-Yosemite region we often find ourselves on Highway 49, an intriguing route that is sometimes twisted, occasionally steep and always scenic. Our last trip took us up to Auburn and Placerville and both are noteworthy with great stops.



Oakland, California is located on the east side of the San Francisco Bay. To the west it offers 19 miles of coastline and to the east you can view splendid rolling hills. San Diego is the 2nd largest city in California and 8th largest in the United States of America. The city is located in San Diego County, at the extreme southwestern corner of the contiguous United States. Not long ago my stereotypical images of Palm Springs involved polyester-clad duffers puttering around on electric carts or over-tanned B movie stars boozing it up poolside, interrupted only occasionally for a shoot. Granted, these folks were swathed in an endless sunlight, but that wasn't enough to get me to join them anytime soon.



San Francisco, California is also known as "The City by the Bay". The City and County of San Francisco is the fourth most populous city in California and the fourteenth most populous city in the U.S., with an estimated populated of 744,041 as of 2006. The city is most well known for its chilly summer fog, steep rolling hills, eclectic mix of Victorian and modern architecture, and its peninsular location.



Glendale, California is a bedroom comunity of approximetly 200,000 residents, situated between the San Fernando Valley and the San Gabriel Valley. In and of itself it is not a popular tourist destination. There are no amusement parks, beaches, camping areas or famous museums in the city.



Lone Pine, California doesn't look like much at first. It's a dusty desert town of a few thousand, on highway 395, on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevadas. There might still be only one traffic light. So what makes it a great vacation destination?



For the longest time, San Diego was home to the Kumeyaay people of the southwestern United States and northwest Mexico, making them the native inhabitants of this southern Californian region. As such, they established their own culture and dominance of the land long before the arrival of the first European settler, a Portuguese explorer by the name of Juan Rodrigues Cabrillo.



Just south of Monterey lies the beach city of Carmel, California also known as Carmel By The Sea. Although the city has a population of less than 5,000 people it has over 90 art galleries, numerous antique shops, 14 churches, more than 50 hotels, resorts and inns, 2 golf courses, several restaurants and outdoor cafes, over a dozen wineries and tasting Rooms and numerous souvenir and boutique shops.

Pismo Beach is situated on the central coast of California just about midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. You can get there by car, camper, boat, rail, bus or you can fly into San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport.



Newport Beach, home to Newport Harbor and Balboa Island, is fifty miles from Los Angeles, fourteen miles from Disneyland in Anaheim and thirty miles from Catalina Island. It's a great place to get away from it all but still have it all. It is a small, population approximately 72,000, affluent city surrounded by major attractions.



With over 600 murals, San Francisco streets are a parade of vibrant and radiant murals that are painted on building walls and facades, fences, garage doors and more. The colorful Mission District is the epicenter of San Francisco murals with the greatest concentration of murals in San Francisco.



Old Town Pasadena which basically runs down Colorado Blvd. from Pasadena Avenue on the West to Marengo Avenue on the east and on either side of Colorado Blvd. from Holly St. on the north to Green St. on the south is quickly becoming one of Los Angeles Countys busiest and most entertaining local gathering places.



Buena Park, California, just under seven (7) miles down the freeway from Disneyland in Anaheim, is a city of 80,000 plus people and is a tourist attraction city that is overlooked by many tourists.



Ninty some miles north west of Los Angeles lies the lovely beach city of Santa Barbara, California where you will find some of the cleanest and best tended beaches on the west coast.



No one thinks about the city of Pasadena, California, unless it is Rose Bowl or Rose Parade time, except for Los Angeles County residents and people who hear the song "Little Old Lady From Pasadena".



The 1906 earthquake and fire destroyed most of San Francisco, so what you see today is all relatively 'new'. The climate is more like that of England than Southern California, but expect more sunshine!



This beautiful island lies just 26 miles across the ocean from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. Yet it might be thousands of miles away.



If you are visiting the Los Angeles, California area you need to travel a wee bit south to beautiful Seal Beach. Named for the seals which used to inhabit the area, the town has all the charm of a beach community. Lovely tree lined streets and well kept homes are the town's feature. When you want to have a little extra adventure and are lured by the salt air, take a walk on the pier which pushes out to the Pacific Ocean.



Like many large cities, Los Angeles is a collection of smaller towns, glued together with a grid of roads and freeways.



The capital city of the largest state in the union, by population, and the third largest state by area, Sacramento is like a sweet-tempered, smartly dressed matriarch of undisclosed wealth and power.



San Francisco serves you a big dish of alternatives when looked at all the dining options the fog city has to offer. Arguably the countries most excellent dim sum and other specialty dishes have established that San Francisco hotels are simply as dissimilar as the exclusive neighborhoods they are reside in. Whatever area of San Francisco you select to dine in; your choices are plentiful and varied.



The most vital San Francisco shuttle tours attraction is Golden Gate Bridge. Take a walk across this outstanding bridge. It features wonderful views of the deep sea, city, mountains, and amazing islands. On another side of the passage there is a vista point. Do not stop there, walk ahead and to the left under the thruway, or you could further take a walk under the Golden Gate Bridge, mount on the hill, and get to the most stunning view of the bridge.



Where to begin? There are so many things to do in Southern California, we could easily create a big long list, but that would be overwhelming! So I'm going to categorize the things you can do in Southern California and list off some of the best, in my humble opinion.



Visit Los Angeles and you're sure to come across movies being made -- whether out in the street by your hotel or in one of several studios that are open for studio tours.
