California is a magical and eclectic playground for all to enjoy. An exciting land filled with glamorous cities, vast deserts, primeval forests, sensational sandy beaches and soaring mountain ranges. Brimming with history, culture, beauty and high society, California is where dreams just begin. Due to the enormity of California, it would not be feasible nor practical to attempt to visit all the attractions in just one visit. With the sheer enormity of the sights to see, it can be difficult to decide where to begin. From the maddening exhilaration to be had in Los Angles, to the vast barren landscape of Death Valley, California is a veritable collage of environmental extremes. For the majority of first time visitors to California, a trip along the shoreline north the length of the Central Coast can be a spectacular place to begin. Discovering quaint towns such as Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz can be an ideal introduction to the highlights California has to offer. Although these towns are a lot smaller than the likes of San Francisco or Los Angeles, there is a unique charm and grace to these places which can be found in very few American towns. One of California’s most visited and beautiful cities has to be San Francisco. More European in appearance, San Francisco is built on large hills and is an array of old wooden houses and classic architecture. A visit to Fisherman’s Warf can allow you sensational views of the city as well as an abundance of first class restaurants, bars and hotels. Or for those who are seeking a unique back to nature experience, then take a visit at one of several national parks which can be found east of San Francisco. Yosemite and Sequoia/Kings Canyon being a classic example. With waterfalls flowing into translucent glacier valleys and lush landscapes soaring into the heavens, the national parks of California are a celebration of the wonders on this earth. Lake Tahoe is one of the world largest, cleanest and cavernous lakes. Resting above the peaks of the Gold County, Lake Tahoe is surrounded by geological wonders such as lush trees, clear blue sky’s and high majestic mountain. In the winter months, Lake Tahoe enjoys snow covered slopes popular with travellers seeking the best in skiing, and during the warm summer months, the lake is a haven for those looking for sunny beaches and picturesque landscape. California is blessed with a warm and sunny climate throughout the year. Anytime is a good time to visit California, although different regions experience different temperatures and climate. To the south of California, the weather tends to get hotter and dryer. With picture perfect sunshine days and sultry evenings in the beating heat. That being said southern California can be prone to occasional spells of flooding which can be somewhat torrential in cases. LA can be infamous for the smog which becomes increasingly worse during these high summer days, so caution should be taken at these times, or avoid visiting during altogether during these inhospitable months. |
