I have not a bad word to say about this country, I love it, I live it and I can quite happily call it my home from home. To have the opportunity to be living in paradise beats anything England has to offer in my eyes. Sure you can’t beat the English countryside, fish and chips and a cold beer in a musky beer garden but to me, Costa Rica is a delight to live in. Day to day life is so laid back, people worry less and the country’s moto is “Pura Vida” meaning Pure Life… Ticos’ really live their lives to the full and why not?!

The day to day strains in London seem like another world away. Getting off the tube to be carried along in the dense bustle of bodies which means you run the risk of being crushed just to earn a living. Smiles are non existent, blank expressions are common and saying hello in the street means you want to steal something. But hey, that’s London for you.

By living here it is like a constant holiday but with so much variety. The week is spent at work but the environment is so chilled and the atmosphere is very fun, it will never come close to the standard 9-5 commuting office job. At the weekends, I pop off to the white sandy beach, the rainforest or active volcano with hot springs… it certainly beats a day trip in Skeggy or hitting the local shopping centre in Nottingham.

I’ve never been the typical Brit… in the winter (and sometimes ‘summer’), I curl up in 5 jumpers against the radiator still complaining about the cold, there are so many strict rules I would stay clear of the daily politics of everyday life. I know a lot of people with itchy feet like me but I can’t blame them; the world is so big and there’s so much to explore, it’s so good to reach out of the comfort zone and take a chance in life and that’s why I’m here. I have left all my family, my friends, my everything back in England to move to a tropical paradise. Do I miss home? Sure, it would be weird not to but not enough to go back. Technology and transport is so efficient nowadays, the other side of the world is never far away.

Costa Rica has everything for everyone and even coming here on holiday, people never want to leave. I am yet to meet someone who has come to this country, left and have not dreamt ever since of coming back and you can’t blame them. If you ever get the chance to come here, do it. You will never forget the memories of this incredible country and everything it has to offer.

I love life and I always think life’s too short anyway, you’ve got one life, live it. Out of all the places I have been in the world from Thailand to Europe to the States, Costa Rica is like nothing else. Everyone needs a passion in life, whether it be happiness or contentment, you know you will enjoy Costa Rica.
