Fires de Sant Narcis- a celebration for all by bcnloft.com
Sailing across the world Speed, agility, grace, strength, endurance- these are just some of the terms that would best describe this month's most prominent event- Barcelona World Race. Racing cars? No. Cyclists? No again. Maybe runners? Sorry to disappoint you, but it's not about that either. What Barcelona World Race is inaugurating in a little more than a week is a 60 foot-monohull-boat competition around the world. Starting from November 11 at Moll de la Fusta, nine double teams will bring forward their sailing abilities in successfully crossing the globe's hostile and challenging oceans in a 90-day race. Being the first event of this kind, Barcelona World Race will have the two-handed boats cover more than 25,000 nautical miles during the 3 months of competition. To reduce the possibility of any incidents, the organizers have established reference points at the Capes of Good Hope, Leeuwin and Horn and have also put up security gates in the icy waters of Antarctica. However, after the boats will have passed all these checkpoints, the sailors will be left alone in dealing with the demanding oceans and finishing the race safely and victoriously. To make the Barcelona sailing scene even more spectacular this month, the 42nd International Boat Show will also take place at the same time with the World Race. From November 3 to November 11, tourists and locals will enjoy a "Pirates of the Mediterranean" exhibition and will be offered insights into model ship making and Olympic sailing. Still part of the Fair, Marina Port Vell will have the privilege of hosting some of the most impressive vessels existing nowadays, ranging from motor yachts, super yachts to catamarans and sailing boats. And, of course, since you will most surely decide not to miss such an event as the Barcelona World Race, you will also feel obliged to peek at all the other wonders that this city has to offer. Tourist attractions, shopping streets and centers, delicious food in local restaurants and a lot more- are all waiting for your appreciation and interest, while bcnloft.com will be there to host you in nicely located apartments around the city.
