From Hiking at Moraine Lake by Howe

“Looking at the lake, I was mesmerized by the beauty of it all,” writes RealTraveler Howe of his trip to Moraine Lake in Banff National Park. This bewitching destination in Alberta, Canada is popular with hikers, mountain bikers, and nature lovers. The glacier-fed lake which sparkles brilliantly under the summer sun is surrounded by a number of easy-to-challenging hiking trails framed by stunning scenery in every direction. A wonderful day here might include a leisurely canoe ride across the emerald lake, a pleasant walk along Rockpile Trail (one of the least strenuous trails,) and a bike ride to equally breathtaking natural wonders like Sentinal Pass, Larch Valley, or Consolation Lakes.

Howe brought his camera along when he hiked the trails surrounding Moraine Lake, capturing this radiant travel photo of the day. He also captured the beauty of his trip in words:

“The enormity of the mountains stood in the background while a sea of green spruce trees outlined the skirts of the divine turquoise lake which could have easily been mistaken for the sky. Over the summer months the Glaciers melt and the rock flour from the glaciers flow into the lake and when the light is refracted from the water the water appears a milky green and blue colour…

Moving along we came out on top of Larch Valley and there it unfolded the spectacular view of the Valley of Ten Peaks,(ten mountain peaks running along the edge of the Lake one after another) if felt like I was in a colosseum of mountains. From there we could see Sentinel Pass…” (more…)
