O'ahu

Beautiful white sand beaches, world class shopping, diverse dining options and rich cultural experiences all combine to make the island of O'ahu my favorite place in Hawaii. Whether you are looking for city action with an upbeat nightlife, or a secluded beach where you can snorkel and swim to your hearts' content, O'ahu has what you're looking for.

The Waikiki area of the island is a hotbed of activity, ranging from world-famous Waikiki Beach to fabulous shopping and dining options along Kalakaua Avenue. The Zoo and the Aquarium are located towards the far end of Waikiki, towards Diamondhead. Pearl Harbor is located approximately 15 minutes from the heart of Waikiki; tickets are free but you need to arrive early as they go quickly. The Ala Moana center with it's hundreds of shops and restaurants is located at the entrance to Waikiki.

The Waikiki Trolley is a wonderful alternative to renting a car while on O'ahu. They have several lines, one that will take you in and around Waikiki and Honolulu, one that goes to the various shopping centers and one that goes down the coast.

For those looking for a little more solitude than what Waikiki can offer, the North Shore can fulfill those dreams. A short 45 minute drive from the airport will find you in a wholly different world. Turtle Bay Resort area on the North Shore offers a respite from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

This is a beautiful property offering all the amenities of a four star resort, yet the seclusion you desire. This is what you always dreamt Hawaii would be like---a relaxed atmosphere with pristine white sand beaches, abundant foliage, and even roadside vendors offering up exotic fruits and local delicacies. The North Shore also features one of the highlights of a visit to O'ahu; the Polynesian Cultural Center. Focusing not only on Hawaii, the Center has seven villages designed to perpetuate the culture of the following South Pacific regions: Samoa, New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga, Tahiti and the Marquesas. Combine admission to the park with their wonderful luau for an exciting activity the whole family can enjoy!

So whether you want to hang out at the beach all day, shop till you drop or hit up some fabulous nightspots, O'ahu has it all!
