Everyone loves beach holidays! So let's look at a few wonderful locations to consider - Miami Beach, Hawaii, or the Fiji Islands. This is especially ideal with the Christmas holiday upon us. The little ones can dig in the sand and splash in the lapping waves. The older ones can swim, get a tan, or just relax. The inquisitive types can explore for sea life, tide pools, and driftwood. The warm breezes and natural beauty of the beach anywhere are invigorating and restorative. Any trip, however, can bring discomfort if you do not plan well. Here are things you can do to make your beach holidays easier, safer, and more meaningful.

In many parts of the world, people head for their beach holidays in the Air.

Before Your Trip

• Check your itineraries for seat assignments and make any ticket changes you need.
• Handle any special needs you might have before you get to the airport.
• Check to make sure the contact information the Airline have for you is right.
• Take care of passports, visas, and any important papers you might need as early as possible.
• Most airlines have an online check-in tool and self-service kiosk to avoid long lines at the airport.
• Know the check-in requirements for your airport.
• Know the requirements for the security checkpoints for your destination.
• Check security checkpoint wait-times and allow plenty of extra time for busy holiday periods.

During Your Trip

• Check the display screens and monitors in the airport to find your gate.
• Arrive at the gate early with your boarding pass and e-ticket receipt.
• Keep an eye on the gate display screens that most Airlines have in most airports.
• Listen closely for announcements at the gate. It might be important stuff.

Traveling with kids is always a challenge. They may be even more excited than usual and impatient when knowing they will soon be enjoying a beach holiday. Make sure they have cool water bottles and healthy snacks to munch. Try a simple airplane game to help the time pass quickly. Many kids like looking for letters of the alphabet on signs. If several people get involved, it can be quite fun.

With beach holidays particularly, there is always a need to provide for skin safety. Be particularly careful about being in the sun for long stretches of time between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Use a sun block with a high SPF rating and replace it after getting wet or drying off with your towel. The towel you choose can make a difference too. Thick towels get heavy and tend to trap a lot of sand. You may find you prefer thin towels at the beach. Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes and some sort of foot protection to keep your feet from being burned on the hot sand.

With a little preparation, your beach holiday can be enjoyable and problem-free. When you arrive home you will be relaxed and refreshed. It won't belong until the kids will be shouting, "We're ready for another beach holiday!"
