Sechelt BC is located north west of Vancouver BC. There is no highway access to the area. You must arrive by air or water. Sechelt is located on the Sunshine Coast of BC and is north of Gibsons BC.

If arriving by car once you arrive on the ferry, it is about a 35 minute drive to Sechelt BC if you do not stop along the way. There are many neat artisan studios and communities along the drive, so allow a little longer than 35 minutes if you would like to do some exploring along the way.

The highway is single lane both ways, ferry traffic can congest the trip. Once you arrive in Sechelt, you are in a really neat little spot. The village of Sechelt is flanked by ocean on two sides! There is less than 1/2 a mile of land, which is actually a sandy mass, that separates the ocean waters of the Sechelt Inlet and the Pacific Ocean.

If the sandy bench of land was not there, the northern part of the Sunshine Coast would be an island!

There are some great local restaurants to enjoy as well unique artisan gifts and wares. There are several galleries and gift shops that line the streets of the picturesque seaside town. A site to see is the tropical vegetation in this mild climate area. One of the main streets, Wharf Avenue, is lined with Palm Trees!

There is plenty of outdoor activities as well, boating, scuba diving, hiking, mountain biking, and a scenic stroll along the village sea walk are just a few of the activities you can enjoy.

Bed & Breakfasts are scattered through out the area, and there are no major hotel chains. If you do a little it of research before you book a place to stay, you will find everything from luxury accommodations to rustic secluded cottages. There are several campgrounds in the area as well, however they tend to be fully booked in the summer season, so make sure you call ahead.

Old growth forests, waterfalls, and lush green forests make an afternoon hike a great idea and if you are lucky enough to be in Sechelt in the warm summer months, a trip to a sandy beach for a swim in the ocean is a great idea. If you have a fishing licence, you may just find some clams and oyster to make a big batch of seafood chowder over your campfire!

Just over an hour and a half from the hustle and bustle of Vancouver BC this is a must do trip if you are in the area.
