Now there’s another reason to visit Arizona’s majestic Grand Canyon National Park. (Not that we needed one!) As of last week, visitors can view this amazing natural wonder from a completely new perspective. The Native American Hualapai Tribe has commissioned the construction of the Skywalk, a horseshoe-shaped glass footbridge suspended 4,000 feet above the Colorado River. Located on the canyon’s West Rim and combining pristine natural beauty with cutting-edge technology, this tourist attraction is bound to attract many.

Realtravelers have often marveled at their experience of the Grand Canyon, writing blogs that are sure to inspire anybody interested in visiting this tremendous place. Here are two recent examples:

This past Fall, Ricicle, a Realtraveler from Dublin, chronicled her incredible hike in her journal entry Grand Canyon—WOW. After a challenging 2 days, she had her reward: “By 3:45pm, we had made it to the top. It was possible the greatest feeling of achievement I´ve ever felt, I´m not sure, but I certainly felt good about myself!” (more…)

Still on her Grand American Road Trip, littlehaxby stopped at the South Rim last month:

“Once I saw it, this awesome expanse, too big for any economical wide lens, too varied to capture all the layers of shadow and sedimentary hues in one glimpse or shot, there’s a pull, to get out of the car and explore, to gradually take it all in. This is, of course, impossible. The canyon brings out the most patient version of ourselves; it demands it. Bill Bryson wrote that its expanse will quiet any child. It has that effect on us.

“This time, I allowed myself to marvel…I have seen natural wonders aplenty, and in the week previous, I had seen so much beauty, so many canyons, that this time the Grand Canyon stood there as yet another reason this country holds arguably the most diverse array of inspiring territory in the world.” (more…)
