On my own trip to Toulouse in January I found myself wishing I didn’t have to leave so soon, I’d fallen in love with the city in the two short weeks I’d spent there! What I loved most about this city was being able to explore the many wonderful cobblestone streets around Capitole (the main square). There was always something new to be discovered, whither it be a great little café, surprising shop, or even a beautiful sculpture or fountain. There is also a lot of great urban graffiti style artwork that appears at random throughout the many winding streets, stumbling upon some of these was a thrill. If you’re looking for a place where you can truly soak up some French life and culture then I highly recommend taking a trip to Toulouse. The city is very laid-back and in my experience the people who live there are extremely friendly. For more about my visit to Toulouse read my journal.

RealTraveler Will & Kimmy also visited Toulouse last August where they appreciated the beautiful architecture of the cathedrals in the city and some of the delicious food found in one of the many fantastic restaurants. Here’s an excerpt from their journal:

“Our hotel is right in the centre of town so after a rest we go back to the old sector of lanes, cafes and alleys for some shopping. The centre Plaza with the magnificent Capitol Building on one side had a market, and all the streets leading out had shopping. We walked passed many fountains, parks and beautiful old buildings leading to Les Jacobins, a cathedral which was built in the 14 th century and is where Saint Thomas Aquinas buried. It was huge but quite austere compared to some of the other cathedrals.”
