Driving at their own pace across the country, RealTravelers Irene & Bill have made their way to the beautiful rushing waters of Niagara Falls, the powder-laden ski slopes of Aspen, Colorado, and the dairy farms and resplendent Fall colors of Wisconsin. Along the way, they’ve been snapping lovely photos and painting scenes of natural beauty. Their most recent adventure was a trip to Acadia National Park in Maine, where they camped at Outdoor World, visited the shop-strewn, charming town of Bar Harbour, and saw the Atlantic Ocean for the first time. Here’s Bill & Irene’s impression of the beauty they witnessed here, taken from their travel blog, Mainely Maine: “What an amazing place. Fall colors are at their height and Bill and I are witnessing the Atlantic Ocean as I had never imagined it. I always pictured the Atlantic as a dark menacing sea spilling over a grim coastline. The reality at least for these past few days is a beautiful blue calm water gently flowing over light beige sandy beach, pink and green algae splashed granite rocks and pines and birches ringing the shores of coastal Maine. These shores don’t seem vast like the Pacific Coast but are harbors and inlets and nearby islands ringing the coast so that it feels like rivers and lakes, not the ocean.” (more…) Read more about their adventures across the United States camper-van style in their travel itinerary, Maiden Voyage of the Pop Top, and visit the links below to help plan your own adventure in Maine.
