From Langkawi Green Island by ladycarmelkent

On the search for tropical paradise? Try Langkawi, Malaysia! This archipelago of 99 islands in the Andaman Sea is a heavenly holiday destination of white sand beaches flanked by lush foliage and dramatic cliffs. Ladycarmelkent, a Realtraveler from Kilkenny, Ireland, relaxed in Langkawi in the middle of her round-the-world trip:

“Before we left for Langkawi we booked ourselves into a 5 star resort as a treat for 2 nights….arriving at the ‘Berjaya Langkawi Beach & Spa’ was super impressive and just what we needed with the hangovers from hell and the journey we had made with very little sleep. It was on the Northwest side of the island so a good 45 minute journey in a cab when we arrived at the ferry terminal in Kuah. The resort itself was amazing with different level pools that led right down to a the beach which was picture perfect….the next day we lounged by the pool (very cool bar in the pool) and the beach - and later that night we went to nearby Cenang beach and had dinner in one of the seafood restaurants.”

World-travelers Kyle and Dan were impressed with Langkawi, too. Here’s an excerpt from their blog:

“Langkawi comprises a group of 99 tropical islands, lying off the northwestern coast of peninsular Malaysia, and as soon as the ferry neared the main island (Pulau Langkawi) in the group, we immediately saw that Langkawi is a tropical destination not to be ignored. With a geological history dating back 500 million years, the islands contain unique rock formations that stirred our imaginations and baffled our minds - just as the brochure said it would. We were also told to expect fine beaches, emerald waters and people renowned for their gentle smiles and warm hospitality, and everything we were told to expect was delivered ten-fold…” (more…)
