Experts forecast the fall in prices for ski vacations in Turkey in the coming season. Price brackets will finally be cleared up in September when the tour operators get the answer from hotel owners. But already now it is known that hotelers’ attitude toward the perspective of small fall in prices is positive because it is in their behalf to have enough tourists in all their rooms. After all there is not much of guarantee that a number of tourists will prefer Turkey to Austria, for instance: the opportunities for mountain skiing in Europe are much wider. Most probably the solution will be found in the price policy change, so the tour operators will do their best to decrease the prices of hotel vouchers at least for one-fourth.
Uludag and Palandoken are considered to be the best among 20 ski resorts in Turkey. Uludag is situated not far from Bursa – the first capital of ancient Ottoman Empire. Palandoken - relatively young and doubtlessly the most sportive, is located in Eastern Anatolia. Snow usually falls out by 25th of December in Turkey, and already by the New Year holiday winter resorts gladden their guests with the sufficient snow-cover height. The main tourist flow comes there beginning with the 3rd of January.
Anyway, Turkey has a good set of attractive propositions, many of which arise interest during the year around and do not loose their charm in winter. The traces of many previous civilizations remained on its territory, beginning – no less, no more – with Old Stone Age, that created the unique flavor of the country. Istanbul with its noisy oriental bays, mosques and possibility to leave Asia and find yourself in Europe in a matter of minutes; ancient Bosporus channel that rather resembles a wide calm river; ancient Troy digs and a number of Greek colony-cities; majestic Byzantine churches spread all over the country; hot spas in Pommukale, Busra and Cheshma... All these and not only these make the cause significant enough to stop treating Turkey as a solely seaside resort “for lazy tourists”.
Summer season revealed tourists’ great interest to Turkey, that is why the operators expect the demand growth in wintertime too, as compared to the previous year. There is a definite category of tourists that choose the country by their words,– basically these are people who found here the opportunity to get comparatively not an expensive but comfortable family rest, and also tourists “spoiled” with the convenient system of payment “all inclusive” that is widely spread in local hotels.
