"CHANTAL" On DVD November 13, 2007
From the liner notes by Ed Grant - Chantal is indeed a wildly delusional girl who seemingly never gained the media-savvy possessed by most of today's teens and preteens that have been weaned on MTV, Entertainment Tonight and the E! Channel in the business of show biz. She doesn't know any better, but that is the point — the more she tries to retain her wide-eyed innocence, the more she attracts a variety of low-level predators.
As for the genesis of the film, it grew out of the acquisition by Seduction Cinema of a cache of the soft- and hardcore films of Nick Millard, aka Nick Philips. Producer and Seduction Cinema founder Michael Raso decided it would be a good idea to package the Philips films (which run about an hour on the average) with contemporary remakes starring the actresses from Seduction's ensemble. The first three features in that enterprise — Roxanna, Pleasures of a Woman and Lustful Addiction — all have their virtues (with Roxanna boasting a particularly good performance by Misty, and Lustful Addiction being directed by Misty), but Chantal was certainly the most ambitious of the initial remakes.
