William K. Vanderbilt Jr. Newsreel
This film is the only known newsreel of William K. Vanderbilt Jr. (1878-1944), greatgrandson of shipping and railroad tycoon Commodore Corneilius Vanderbilt. "Willie K" was an avid sportsman, accomplished yachstman and skilled automobile racing pioneer. From 1904 to 1916, he was a sponsor of the Vandebilt Cup Races, the most prominent international road races of their time.
In this newsreel, Vanderbilt watches the arrival of his new seaplane to his Fishers Island home in Florida in 1934.
