If many of us where asked, we would all have jobs that require us to travel all over the world. Most people look forward to holidays as it allows them and maybe their families to get away and enjoy the different tour destinations in the world. There are many destinations some of which are famous and popular that it would be a crime for one not to visit them if they are in the mother country. For example seeing the Eiffel tower once you go to Paris for the first time is almost mandatory. There are also many great destinations that are unknown to many but as one travels frequently the spirit of adventure grows and leads to unearthing of these destinations.

Many have said a visit to Paris is worthwhile and I couldn’t agree more. The city is located in France, a country which has a rich heritage and boasts of having fine taste in almost everything. As a tourist it’s necessary to plan the trip to Paris in advance to ensure you allocate all the destinations sufficient time and to also get accommodation and transport. Booking of hotels and flights can be done online for convenience. Backpacking should also be minimal to allow you to move around easily and since Paris is very charming you are bound to get lots of souvenirs you therefore need space for them.

Some of the sites that you can visit include the Louvre museum located at Louvre palace which is among the most visited museums in the globe. Its entrance is marked by a huge glass pyramid and the musem holds over a million items which include world famous arts like the Mona Lisa, Venus of Milo which is a Greek statute and Michelangelo’s dying slave. Then there is the Arc de Triomphe which is 165 feet tall and 148 feet wide. Its features are intricate reliefs which show the won battles and it has names of soldiers who died in the battle for the emperor engraved on it. It was build to be a reminder of the won battles of napoleon Bonaparte.

Notre Dame Cathedral is a must go and one never gets tired of visiting over and over. The 13th century French gothic architectural building is over 120 meters tall and has two lofty towers and a spire. It bears gothic carvings, breathtaking sculptures and a wide collection of relics. For art lovers, Musee d’ Orsay must feature in their trip. This museum is home to famous premier impressionist paintings and it exhibits items and artworks that were made during mid 1800s and early 1900s therefore you are bound to see some artwork of a painter who you probably knew from a book e.g. Van Gogh.

The Eiffel tower is a must see and although the lines for climbing are usually extremely long, viewing it and taking a photo against it is worthwhile. Other places that you can tour include Centre Pompidou, Sacre-coeur, Sainte-Chapelle and Place de la Concorde. Being the city of fashion, fashion lovers should make a point of shopping in the many designer shops. Ensure you also eat out often and enjoy the wonderful French cuisine as well the ambience.
